Manicures and massages might not be the first thing people think of when they think of children’s hospices, but they are exactly the kind of things we provide as part of our truly holistic approach to care.

Earlier this year, families from our Parents and Carers Group came to The Ark for some much-needed relaxation time whilst their children were cared for by our specialist carers, nurses and volunteers.

Donna, Romeo’s mum, shared: “When you have a baby who is sick, you don’t have a lot of time to do things for yourself. The pamper day was absolutely amazing and everyone was so kind as always. I had such a lovely day, I didn’t
want to leave!”

The Parent and Carer Groups are organised by our Family Activities team, who are in charge of organising fun, free activities for children who are seriously unwell and their whole family. They are just one of the ways we help those we support enjoy life as children and families, rather than as patients and carers.
