Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice Safeguarding Statement

At Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, we are dedicated to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone we care for; it is at the heart of everything we do. Out staff and volunteers recognise and understand our responsibility to promote welfare and protect everyone from harm. Safeguarding really is everyone’s business at Noah’s Ark.

Our principles;
  • The welfare of babies, children, young people and families is paramount.
  • The rights, wishes and feelings of those we care for will be respectfully listened to.
  • All people, regardless of age, ability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation, or identity, have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.
  • Partnership working with children, young people, families, carers and other agencies is essential in the protection of safety and wellbeing.
We ensure our commitment to our safeguarding responsibility by having the following in place;
  • Safeguarding policies and standard operational procedures.
  • Links with external safeguarding teams and Local Children’s Safeguarding Partnership.
  • Designated safeguarding leads across the care team.
  • Safeguarding induction and mandatory training.
  • Designated Lead Safeguarding Trustee.
  • Out of hours telephone support for staff and volunteers to discuss safeguarding concerns.
  • Monthly safeguarding meetings to review all concerns reported.
  • Safeguarding agenda item on line management and team meetings.
  • Quarterly updates to the Board of Trustees.

Recruiting the right people

Noah’s Ark follows Safer Recruitment guidelines to ensure we have the right people working and volunteering with babies, children, young people and families.

  • We adhere to statutory requirements around Disclosure and Barring Service undertaken on all staff and volunteers who have direct contact with children and young people.
  • Anyone working with or volunteering will receive and have access to details of our Safeguarding Policies. They will be responsible for adhering to these at all times.
  • Staff and volunteers are aware of how to report any concerns they have about Noah’s Ark staff or volunteers.
  • We providing effective mandatory training to staff and volunteers at appropriate levels as governed by relevant legislative guidance.
  • Procedures in place for reporting concerns about staff and volunteers.

If you think a child is in immediate danger of physical harm and you don’t feel able to prevent it, call 999.

To report a Safeguarding concern you can contact any of the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL). Please report any concerns you may have immediately.
