Noah’s Ark will only consider referrals outside our catchment area in exceptional circumstances and on a case-by-case basis, in discussion with the lead hospice for the area.

If there is an identified need for immediate or short notice support from Noah’s Ark please contact our Nurse on Call. One of our registered nurses is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They will be able to gather key information to support a prompt assessment and admission, should we be able to assist.
Urgent referrals may relate to end-of-life care, care after death, symptom management or crisis intervention.

We can consider bereavement referrals for families of any child who has died, whether they were known to Noah’s Ark or not, and whatever the cause of death, providing the following criteria is met:
Anyone can make a referral, including parents, a teacher or consultant, as long as the child’s parent or carer have given their consent. If the young person is over 16 and able to give consent, their consent must be given before a referral can be made.
We give all referrals careful consideration, evaluating a child’s diagnosis against our criteria. We may need to speak to professionals involved in caring for the child and may contact you for additional information before we can decide whether the child meets our criteria. We will write to the referrer with our decision and families will be contacted within 5 working days.
We will allocate a Family Link Worker who will contact the family to arrange a home visit. The Family Link Worker will be their main point of contact. They will work with the family to understand what is important to them and the child and how we can best support.
We offer one of the widest breadths of service of any children’s hospice. Find out more about our services.
