For many people December is a time to eat, drink and be merry, but on 6 December the amazing Noah’s Ark staff will be putting the sherry and mince pies to one side for an exciting 5k festive dash!
This year, over 60 runners will be suiting up – and bearding up – for Santa in the City, a 5k run through the heart of Central London. Joining TEAM Noah’s biggest Santa run to date will be our corporate partners WREN Construction, Smart Pensions and Jefferies International Limited, as well as friends, family and staff from our Fundraising and Care Teams!
Representing our Fundraising Team will be Challenge Events Fundraiser – James Titley:
“Running and Christmas are two words I wouldn’t usually put together, but I thought this would be a new and exciting way to support Noah’s Ark… not mention a chance to shrink the old Santa belly! So far I’ve braved the cold for a few runs but thankfully I’ll have the Santa suit on the day to keep me warm. Still, this event isn’t about finish times, it’s about having fun with friends and colleagues, and raising much-needed sponsorship for children with life limiting or life threatening conditions. Everyone in the office can’t wait to get going, if you haven’t already, please donate to our JustGiving page!”
Representing the Noah’s Ark Care Team will be our amazing Family Activities Coordinator – Rebecca Fox:
“I’ve signed up for Santa in the City because it’s something fun to do to get into the festive spirit, to raise some funds for The Ark and to not have to run too far! You also get your very own Santa costume out of it so what more could you want? So far, my training regime consists of aiming to cut down my weekly pick-n-mix runs from three times to only twice a week (a big sacrifice!), and I’m working on a ‘Pasta Party’ lunch idea on the Big Day itself.”
Joining TEAM Noah will also be our youngest Santa Runner – 12-year-old Raffi:
“My mum works for Noah’s Ark and I’ve seen the site where The Ark is being built I and really wanted to help! I’m really excited to be running around the city with a load of Santas. I really like running and can do 5K in quite a good time. My mum’s running too but I’ll probably leave her behind at the start. I’ll be there at the end to cheer when she crosses the finish line and hopefully she’ll be running and not crawling. My mum and I have managed to raise a lot of sponsorship money for Noah’s Ark. I would encourage others to do the same then they will have enough money for all the poorly children and their families.”
To catch TEAM Noah in their festive fancy dress and to make an incredible difference to the lives of children in North and Central London please visit the JustGiving page and give what you can to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice!
