Ten prison officers from HMP Pentonville have put their physical and mental capabilities to the test by taking part in the Ultimate River Challenge to raise money for Noah’s Ark.
The team from HMP Pentonville canoed over 100 miles of the River Wye, from Glasbury to Chepstow, through rapids and tidal areas, all to support Noah's Ark.
It’s not the first time that the prison officers have challenged themselves - they completed the Ultimate River Challenge in 2017 raising an amazing £5,000. To coincide with the opening of The Ark, the group are back again and completed the challenge in early June.
Jason Brown from the group explained ‘We decided to do this challenge again as a few of us had some experience of kayaking and the Wye 100 is considered one of the toughest water challenges in the U.K. We have always supported Noah’s Ark, and it has been supported by our PE Department for many years and is a fantastic charity. And all of the training in the prison gym paid off - it was a brilliant day!
