Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice to benefit from Co-Op community funding

05 FEBRUARY 2019

PRESS RELEASE: Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is to receive funding after the Co-Op welcomed the latest beneficiaries to its Local Community Fund.

The Co-Op Local Community Fund helps to support local projects that their members care about. Since its launch in 2017, Co-Op members have raised £39 million pounds for over 12,000 local causes.

Co-Op members, receive a 5% reward for themselves with a further 1% going to local causes when they buy own-brand products. Members can decide how the money is allocated, and are encouraged to select the causes they wish to support online.

In 2011, research commissioned by Together for Short Lives and conducted by Leeds University revealed that there could be at least 1,086 children who would benefit from help from Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. Year-on-year Noah’s Ark has seen an increase in referrals from families needing support.

As a charity, Noah’s Ark is dependent on private donations to provide services, with less than 10% of funding coming from the statutory sector.

We are heartened by the support from our local community and Co-Op. Noah’s Ark children’s Hospice is a local charity and seeks to help seriously ill children across North and Central London and Hertsmere,” said Alison Goodman, Director of Fundraising at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. “Not only will money from the fund help support existing at home services, but also to help us complete building our new hospice, The Ark.”

Local Co-Op stores include: Cockfosters Parade, East Barnet Road, Mays Lane and Chipping Barnet.
