What a year it has been for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice! Our Building The Ark project has gone from strength to strength throughout 2018 and December in particular saw some very key developments.
December saw the delivery of our fabulous kitchens courtesy of Howdens, the UK’s largest kitchen manufacturer. Howdens has lived up to its reputation and has produced the very best and latest bespoke kitchens for us including top notch appliances and accessories. To help with installing these wonderful kitchens, Ardmore – widely known as “London’s builder” – has commenced on-site work to the kitchens in the south block and will hopefully be finished in no time.
December was also the month that saw UK Power Networks seamlessly install our electricity and Siemens was on hand to install a meter to ensure we have the most accurate picture of our energy use. As well as electricity, our gas supply was brought onto site with the help of BTR Building Services, a progressive construction company working throughout London and the South East delivering the full spectrum of groundworks through to complex civil engineering and RC Frame Structures including basements.
Our expert contractor, K&B, carried out a variety of works to the interior of the building. The majority of the walls have taped and jointed ready for decoration and most of the ceilings throughout the ground floor have been fitted. Now that the plastering has been complete our specialist contractors, GEM Construct Ltd, has made a start on the second fix to the ground floor electrics.
2018 has been a jammed packed year for the build team and we would like to thank them for their amazing hardwork, dedication and support every step of the way. Special thanks go to Phil Juniper and Jimmy Miller from 8build for their central role in keeping the project moving forward and carried out to such a high standard. Here’s to a productive 2019 and check back next month for more exciting developments!
