Here’s more about Pears Property from Jonathan…
The reason that I got involved with Noah’s Ark is that I live locally and it is my nearest children’s hospice. Thankfully, my children don’t need its services but any parent will appreciate why it’s invaluable to the community.
I was moved to cold call Noah’s Ark saying I was in the real estate business and wanted to get involved. I met Ru Watkins, Chief Executive, and he saw the synergy with me being MD of one largest property firms in the UK and helping build The Ark. His enthusiasm was infectious.
That was three years ago, and Pears Property has gone out to the whole building industry to make savings for the appointed contractor 8build. We have saved approximately £1 million so far.
The Ark is a truly iconic building in the most perfect environment for children to receive their care.
The construction industry has been very engaged with this project. Our contractor 8build is doing its utmost to produce a first class result, in association with our professional team. It has shown that people step up to the plate when the need is demonstrated.
The biggest challenge was getting everyone in the building industry engaged initially but once we had the momentum it has been phenomenal.
Getting planning permission was also an issue at the start but, due to the compelling nature of the cause, we gained planning permission with the E-Centre used for educational purposes as part of this planning process.
Building The Ark has been a real team effort and my team have worked closely with Noah’s Ark staff to achieve what will be a beautiful building that will serve thousands of children and families in the years to come.
